WORKSHOP ON THEATRE ARTS

Teaching aids plays a key role in teaching learning situations. It works as the support for the teacher and taught in the pursuit of knowledge. Teaching aid like activity aid helps to pursue this goal. Activity aids provide opportunity for shared learning, it highlight innovative approaches, it increase student involvement in learning process, it makes learning environment interesting and engaging etc.

Based on our two year B.Ed curriculum a workshop on theatre arts was done on
05-03-2020. The class was conducted by Sri. Satheesh C. Nair, Director of theatre arts of kerala university. He is a well known person in the field of theatre arts. He directed various plays and acted in many. The first session include introduction to theatre arts. In which he told about various aspects of plays. He pointed out the elements of a drama, that include characters, dialogues, plots, setting, stage direction, theme. He also made us familiar about various types of stages, history of drama, various famous works, types of dramas etc.

The afternoon session was started at 2:00 pm.In this session we discussed in groups and wrote a script with the guidance of sir. After that we got a chance to act our script in front of others. Our drama was based on the acid-base concept of class 9. 

 There were 10 groups and all of them performed very well. This workshop was a new experience for me. This workshop made me aware about the importance of dramatization in education. As a B.Ed trainee this was a great experience for me.
