WORLD WETLANDS DAY 2020
2nd February of each year is World wetlands day to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet. Wetlands and Biodiversity is the theme for 2020. Wetlands are rich with biodiversity and are a habitat for dense variety of plants and animals. Latest estimate show a decline in biodiversity.
Inorder to give awareness about the need of protection of wetlands, one day workshop was conducted on 03-02-2020. The workshop was conducted by WWF and Bhoomitrasena of St Gregorios college. The workshop was inaugurated by Sri.Shyalamalaamma, chairperson of kottarakara municipality. Inagural address was given by Dr Suman Alexander, principal of SG college.
The classes was conducted by Dr Ranjan Mathew, N. K Shivakumar, Sujith B Gopan. The class mainly pointed out the threats faced by wetlands of Kerala.
